I love recipes that make great left overs. This is one of them! Delicious warm or cold and full of flavor.
I used Ottolenghi’s Jerusalem cookbook, but the link below is pretty much the exact same recipe. Not gonna lie, it’s a little involved, but well worth it. Enjoy!

SIBO modifications:
- Sub 2 bunches of green onion (green part only) for onion
- Sub honey for sugar (1:1 substitution ratio
- Strict SIBO – no Tamarind, sub vinegar and a little honey
A note about Tamarind: I’m not sure of the FODMAP breakdown of tamarind paste or powder, so my general rule is if I don’t know I don’t use it. However, in this particular case (because it was a special occasion), I used a little tamarind powder (1/2 teaspoon) with a little white vinegar (1/2 teaspoon). I didn’t have a reaction, so that’s awesome!
